Spiritual Formation: Basic Christianity 101 Class Begins!
Basic Christianity 101, a class to explore the foundations of our faith, will begin on Sunday, February 14 at 12:30 in the Agape classroom (directly behind the stage). The class will discuss questions like: Who is Jesus? How can I be sure of my salvation? Why should I belong to a church? How can I better understand the Bible? Can I really talk with God? If you are a new Christian or interested in deepening your walk, you are welcome to join this class!
Spiritual Formation - 24 Hours That Changed The World- A Lenten/Easter Study!
Coming soon to the Disciple Bible Study class during Lent: 24 Hours That Changed The World! In this inspiring book, author Adam Hamilton guides us through the last days of Jesus’ life. Walk with Jesus on his final day. Sit beside him at the Last Supper. Pray with him in Gethsemane. Follow him to the cross. Desert him. Deny him. Experience the Resurrection! Whether you are a longtime Christian or simply curious about the story of Christ’s crucifixion, you are invited to join us on this inspiring journey. The class begins on February 3, following the Fellowship dinner. Facilitated by Pastor Hawthorne
Spiritual Formation: Faith Comes By Hearing!
Begin the journey of biblical faithfulness. Listen to the entire New Testament in 40 days… just 28 minutes a day! Let the Holy Spirit transform you as you listen to the pure words of Scripture. Listen with your heart and with your head. Believe that listening to God’s Word will lead to spiritual formation. Listen for God to speak directly to you to teach, encourage, and form you into Christlikeness. The Bible says, “Faith Comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Listen, reflect, and wait for God to speak in your life! Faith by hearing begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17. Information concerning how to participate will be presented to the congregation on February 14th in our worship services.

Spiritual Formation: Pastor’s Discipleship Class for Youth!
Once again this year, Pastor Hawthorne will be offering a discipleship class in preparation for a service of Believer’s Baptism on Easter Sunday. The study this year is entitled, “Becoming Like Christ.” The most important decision a child can make in life is to choose to follow Jesus. Please see the pastor if your child would like to attend. The sessions will be held on March 14, 21, and 28 in the Pastor’s study on the third floor.

Wednesday Bible Study Opportunities! (Resumes January 13, 2010)
Spiritual Formation: Lord of All Things - facilitated by Dr. Joseph M. Smith - The Wednesday night group that began several years ago with the intention of examining “all things” from a Biblical and theological perspective continues this year focusing on “Unity and Division in God’s People.” Looking at the history of the united monarchy of Israel, its fracture into two kingdoms, and the military and political challenges that led to the fall of both kingdoms, we will think about contemporary politics and current church life and what it means to have both diversity and unity. How can nations achieve direction when partisanship reigns? How can denominations stay on course when doctrainaire factions insist on having their way? Is the ultimate unity of God’s people only a far-off illusion? Even if you hve not been a part of this group in the past, you are welcome to join us now for some stimulating discussions.
Spiritual Formation:The Book of I James (Resumes on January 6)
The Wednesday Night Disciple Bible Study Group, facilitated by Pastor Hawthorne, will be studying the book of James during January. James was the leader of the Jerusalem church. He wrote to Jewish believers who had been scattered from Jerusalem during the persecution after Stephen’s death. James wrote on various topics, and they were of practical wisdom for Christian living. The letter takes on the character of practical commandments for living. We invite you to come and join us! The Disciple Bible Study Group will meet following the fellowship dinner in the Faloha Seekers classroom.
